Shows National League Laying Down the
Law to Address Rampant Problem
     The following authentic National League document from 1898 addresses a pervasive problem among players that had been giving Major League Baseball a black eye. In this express directive to players, the league gives examples of the unacceptable behavior and in no uncertain terms states that the conduct must be stopped in order to maintain the public's trust in baseball as an American institution. The subject is not one that can be elucidated in any detail within a family publication like the Police Gazette, but we do offer the actual document here as a piece of valuable historical evidence:
